10,000 hours of jumping

Originally i thought i would dedicate my 10,000 hours to mastering dance, but i felt like that is something you would never be able to "master" because everyone has a different style. After further thinking about it i decided i would dedicate 10,000 hours to mastering high jump. High jump is a field event in track that I started this year, to do really well in high jump one has to have  a certain form and also have a high jump. Therefore, this is an event that someone could always keep improving on, whether improving on jumping skills or on form. After 10,000 hours of practicing high jump i would have mastered my own form and a solid jump. I believe that i would not only be a strong competitor in my track season, whether high school or college, but i believe that i might even be able to compete in the olympics. Going to the olympics is a goal that many aim for but not many achieve and it would be a huge accomplishment to even be considered for it.

  1. I would agree with you on achieving this goal. After doing track this past year, I already have an idea on what I want to try for next year. My goal for highjump is to make states for it, and possibly break the school record.

  2. Meghan, it is interesting that you mentioned the fact that everyone has a different style of dance, and that it would therefore never be able to be mastered. Your point is applicable to my career in Martial Arts. Although I have earned my second degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, I still feel like there is so much more to learn in different forms or styles of Martial Arts. It is nice to have the goal of mastery in a field of which you can always improve. If you choose this to be a definite pursuit of yours, I encourage you to take it along with you to college.
