Perfected Psychology

If I were to commit 10,000 hours of focused practice at a chosen activity in order to become an expert, I would most definitely practice a form of psychology such as mentalism, behaviorism, or, in a more spiritual sense of psychology, reading auras and using the brow chakra.
Psychology has always been an interest of mine, especially since I began watching the television show, "The Mentalist". Playing psychological games and "reading" people, I found, were entirely entertaining. I've only been able to use tricks I saw on the television show, but I've been longing for a further understanding of psychology, thus giving me the idea of combining two of my greater interests: psychology and spirituality.
A "psychic", who a family friend hired to "read" my sister, my friend, and me, told me of something called the Indigo and Crystal Children, telling me to further research them, as well as the brow chakra. These all had to do with some sort of indirect telepathy, which brought me to my research of auras and reading people's thoughts and emotions through the brow chakra.
Watching experts at work with psychology and spiritual psychology greatly interested me and made me want to try it, which later made me want to perfect it.

  1. Spiritual psychology would definitely be cool to learn about, I personally like to learn about psychology of the mind. Along with "The Mentalist" I have been watching "Brain Games" which talks about how the brain perceives things and the many ways it tricks us everyday. It amazes me how an organ like the brain can handle doing so many things at once with very little error. Although sometimes I feel like my brain will spontaneously combust if I think about it too much.

  2. In response to Sarah, I also believe that the brain is an unbelievable machine that can complete tasks beyond our human comprehension. The amount of reactions that go on in our brains daily cannot even be measured. I too watch "Brain Games" whenever I am flipping through the channels and I see that it is on. In response to Christina, your chosen activity seems very interesting, and the branches of psychology that you can study are almost endless. Achieving mastery in the psychological field would be absolutely astonishing, having prior knowledge about the complexity of it.

  3. I also agree that psychology is a great topic to be educated in. Last Summer, I took a course in psychology. I found behaviorism interesting, however what intrigued me the most about psychology was the mental diseases like schizophrenia and dissociative identity disorders, better known as "split personality" disorders. I also was taught about a disorder in which one wakes up and has no idea as to who they are, or where they are. So, the person recreates a new life then one day wakes up and remembers their past life. The period in between the "wake up's" can go as long as maybe twenty years. That's a crazy situation to live through. I think if I were to choose to study psychology for my 10,000 hours too, I would choose to focus on the mental health branch of it.

  4. I agree with Christina on studying psychology for 10,000 hours as that is what I would like to make a career out of someday. I find it interesting how the brain is basically the deciding factor in one's behaviors. I would like to study forensic psychology and the behavior of criminals. Sometimes, their actions are caused by mental illnesses like Katie mentioned and it amazes me how much it affects their actions. What the brain is capable of doing seems unrealistic. Being able to spend so much time focused on psychology and mastering it would enable endless possibilities as well as open an entirely knew perspective.

  5. 10,000 hours of psychology would enable a person to be tapped into the inner most workings of the mind. To know or predict what someone is feeling or thinking can aid more than just in the field of being a psycho-analyst or therapist. One could be a field-agent for the government to interpret the next movement of criminals or be a teachers who can zero in on the best way to teach their students. So over-all I think this is an excellent choice for ten thousand hours because one can find out who they are just as well as others.
